Maybe,….

Life is filled with maybe’s.

But what is behind all of the maybe’s in life. Is it an insincere reply, or a never to be filled promise perhaps.

To the one speaking the ‘maybe’ it leaves them with options.

But to the one soliciting the response, they have a need. A need for a response. Most of the time, when someone asks another a questions they want to hear ‘yes’. That’s why the request goes out in the first place. People are looking for validation, connection, community, affirmation, and completion.

So when the question goes out, the reply is a cheap one. No commitment. No hope. Just a disdainfully played ‘maybe’.

There is a safe place for a maybe, so one thinks, but it lingers beyond the moment, into a place of indecision and even complacency. Maybe’s are a fence that one sits on instead of actually committing.

The advice here, stay off the fence.

How long can you stand between two sides? Not long. It can lead to a majestic way, or to a less fortuitous path.

Let your yes or no dictate your way, not ‘maybe’.
