I came to a coffee shop to share a few moments with my son today, but before he arrived I found a seat with a table near a power outlet( a must in today’s coffee world). I noticed the power source was behind a gentleman who had just taken a phone call and got up to talk away from nearby listening ears. I assumed he was talking to a man beause he saud the words ‘dude’ and ‘bro’. I also guessed he was a Christian because he mentioned those code words, ‘the Lord’. Unless he is a Krishna in Colorado Springs, I’m assuming he meant Jesus.
So here I am sitting in this coffee house, waiting for my son, drinking thier house blend with cream and a little stevia ( in mug), eating a couple breakfast tacos, enjoying the view of Pike’s Peak, using this man’s power.
You see, he’s still outside talking and pacing as he talks, and I stole his power. Oh, he’s still plugged-in, but I’m sharing what he is using. I haven’t asked him to ‘plug-in’, not a nod or even a glance, I jsut went for it. I saw he had the ‘power’ and i needed it, so I took it. Infact, it is what is powering my computer as you read this; you are in a ‘real-time’ experience, as you should be- we all should be.
Looking for others who have ‘power’ and tap into their source.
Sounds a bit abstract, but the point is, we all need power, and some have it to spare. So while, he is on his ‘bro-phone-call’, I am tapping into his power source.
It happens all the time. Someone has had too many shots of caffeine, or a Monster beverage, or worse a Bang!… and everyone around them can notice how, uhmmm.. energetic? they are are, and how they seem to be super engaging and pouncing on any external thing around them,… especially if they are in meeting, or a presentation to their leadership. My son is in the Air Force. He had one such ‘energetic’ expereience several months ago when he had to do a presenation to his leadership- officers who outrank him. As he was giving his ‘spirited’ presentation, he was motioned to by his immediate supervisor. He leaned down to his boss and his boss said basically, ‘call down dude, your going a million miles a minute’. My son had enjoyed a Bang energy drink about an hour prior to the meeting, and it sort of took bite right as his presentation began. He smiled, took a deep breath, and continued his presentation a little slower( so he thought).
The pacing man is still on his call so I’ll keep writing.
But that’s not the exact power I’m writing about here. The power that people want to ‘tap’ into isn’t man-made or caffeine driven. This power is deeper, stronger, older, and doesn’t end with a crash. This power is God-breathed. This power comes from “the Way”, Jesus. Here’s what the Bible says about His power. “For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities – his eternal power, and divine nature. So, they have no excuse for not knowing God.” Romans 1:20
The world is efforting to find power, but to what end? What are the measurable result(s) when they find ‘the power they are looking for? While it bring them a better financial profile, a better body, or more ‘likes’ on FB or IG? Most likely that appetite for power will never be met. The need for that power ‘source’ will be dropped and ‘nexted’ as soon as the ‘next and best’ thing arrives.
What the world needs is for every beleiver who has the ‘power’to step up and make avaialble as many outlets for the power they’ve tapped. What the world needs now, ‘is love sweet love’- and the physical source for that is you and me.
Take a look at your plugs. Do you have them all occupied by some ‘device’, or is there room for someone else to plug in? Maybe you need to unplug from one socket to make it avaialbe. That means you prioritize your time and priorities. It may be a total shift of your thinking from ‘feed me’, ‘keep me powered up’, or ‘never un low on power’, to see what other person needs your power source.
Check out these words from Jesus. Matthew 6:33 Seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all other things will be added to you. I see (my opinion) that these words to mean, look up, look for reasons to walk daily in His holiness, and then what will unfold will be somethings that will multiply what He’s doing in you, around you, and in others…. with theend being someone, somewhere, someday asks; Can I share your power?
